- ➤ Veterans Day events will take place across Flint in the coming week—Bill Harris from McFarlan Veterans Park and Dan Vela from Catholic Charities Sacred Heart Veterans Village preview a series of activities. One event is a free prostate cancer screening for veterans on November 6—call 810-342-4473 for details. ABC 12
- ➤ Genesee County celebrated local veterans by kicking off Operation Green Light on Tuesday with a free giveaway of green light bulbs at a community event, and downtown Flint’s weather ball will turn green through Veterans Day+ honoring the nation's service members. Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, Flint pantries are stepping in to support families facing SNAP disruptions. The City of Flint partnered with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan to launch a food voucher program for federal employees and SNAP recipients while other local pantries offer food at various times in November. - ➤ Outreach East in Davison is serving more families as paused SNAP benefits have doubled the demand at its food pantry—Executive Director Jan Lebert said they may adjust food distribution if the high influx continues. ABC 12

- ➤ Voters approved three school district proposals in Genesee County on Nov. 4. Atherton accepted a $13.4 million bond for building improvements, Davison renewed its sinking fund millage for 10 years, and Goodrich renewed a $64 million bond with no tax increase—paving the way for updates to aging facilities. - ➤ Swartz Creek Community School Board rejected the $40 million proposal from the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance to buy Morrish Elementary - the offer came as part of a state effort to assemble land for a manufacturing megasite serving a school of over 400 students. The board stated it would consider a higher bid, and the alliance confirmed it would remain a good neighbor during ongoing development. MLive
