  • Flint's Charlie B. Dobson will host her 6th annual drive-through food giveaway — donating 300 turkeys from food provided by the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan — on Nov. 22 at noon at Bethel United Methodist Church.  Mid-Michigan Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Flint police went to a home on Blackberry Lane in the 1500 block at about 7:00 p.m. on Nov 5 and found IEDs that the bomb squad later moved and blew up—officials said.  MLive

CULTURE NEWS

  • Flint poet and educator Qiana Towns Williams has been named Buckham Fine Arts Project’s 2025–26 Writer in Residence and will attend eight exhibitions from October through September to write works inspired by the art. She will also join the Buckham Arts Collective – linking her creative process with Guest Writer Kirei to strengthen the connection between visual and literary art.  Flint Beat

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • DTE Energy asked the Michigan Public Service Commission to review its proposal for a $237 million annual rate increase that could raise natural gas bills by 10% overall with at least an 8% hike for residential users—Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is challenging the proposal and will examine each cost to ensure consumers receive a measurable benefit, with a decision expected in 2026.  ABC 12
  • Flint's temporary food voucher program began Wednesday at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan (helping SNAP recipients and federal workers affected by the government shutdown) and all vouchers issued will be honored even as benefits are restored. Additional distributions are scheduled (Tuesday, Nov 18 and Friday, Nov 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) to support families in need.  ABC 12
  • On November 13, about 200 people gathered at Mott Community College to ask tough questions about a 1,300-acre site in Mundy Township where demolition continues months after Sandisk scrapped its $63 billion project. Officials and residents debated state incentive packages—raising issues over nondisclosure agreements and environmental impacts as they seek more government transparency.  MLive
