COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Celeste Hunter, a local daycare owner, hosted a soup giveaway at 5th Avenue and Saginaw Street in the parking lot of Michigan Public Works on Saturday afternoon. She and her husband served four types of soup to between 75 and 100 people and hope to continue the event each November.  ABC 12
  • Roy Jackson Jr.—head of Dreamz Two Reality—gave away 200 turkeys at DeloRoys Complete Autobody and Paint in Flint on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. to help families celebrate Thanksgiving and said he looks forward to hosting the drive again next year.  ABC 12

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The North Flint Food Market opened last Wednesday after ten years of planning at 5402 North Clio Road to serve the food desert in the Pierson Road Corridor—first time shoppers praise its convenient location. General Manager Patricia Wright said the store will add discounts, a rewards points system, and SNAP and WIC acceptance while hosting members' meetings each fourth Monday—local residents now have a new option for groceries.  ABC 12

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Saturday night, the Sloan Museum of Discovery hosted its second Grown-Up Book Fair of the year, where adults paid $10 for entry—gaining access to local book vendors, a cash bar, and snacks.  ABC 12
