- ➤ Last night, the Arab American Heritage Council honored community leaders at its Ensure the Legacy Banquet at the Northbank Center Grand Ballroom in Flint. Dr. Abdul El-Sayed was named Arab American of the Year—Todd Womack and Dr. Alison Kinning were also recognized for their contributions. Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ On Wednesday, the Flint Chapter of Jack and Jill of America Inc. held its annual Shops with a Purpose event at Meijer on Hill Road—teaching children budgeting and leadership skills while shopping with a $100 budget. They finished $14 under budget and will deliver the holiday meal to a single mother and her child this weekend. ABC 12

- ➤ Starlite Coney Island on Center Road in Burton closed on August 23 after a vehicle crashed into its building and will reopen in January after major repairs and equipment updates—co-owner Jason Hester said the Flint area restaurant is preparing for a grand reopening with a new look. MLive
- ➤ Pawpaw's Pickles is now available at Flint’s first Meijer store — it will soon be sold in Canada. ABC 12

- ➤ The 'Blankets of Love' benefit concert is scheduled for Nov. 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at LifeLine Church in Clio — the event will offer live music for a charitable cause. ABC 12
- ➤ Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox will bring holiday magic to the FIM Capitol Theater in Flint this Friday at 8 p.m.—the tour features vintage-style renditions of modern pop hits with four singers, a big band and a tap dancer. Mid-Michigan Now

- ➤ On Tuesday—10 seventh-grade students at Richfield Public School Academy fell ill after two peers brought unknown gummies to school. Eight students were released while two were hospitalized at Hurley Medical Center—authorities have collected uneaten gummies for laboratory testing as the investigation continues. ABC 12

- ➤ Randall Wilburn III, an 8-year-old from Flint, has practiced many yo-yo tricks using online videos and a local club and will compete at the Michigan State Yo-Yo Classic on Nov-22 at the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church.
