- ➤ Flint's Urban Renaissance Center is set to expand its Fruits of Our Labor program in the historic Civic Park neighborhood with new help from The Church of Jesus Christ (supported by ARPA funding), aiming to improve 3.5 acres of vacant land by spring 2026. Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ The Shelter of Flint opened an extra section in its facility today to house women and children amid dangerously cold weather. The warming center (47 beds) runs from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. daily. ABC 12
- ➤ Flint police mourn retired K-9 Echo, who served with Officer Cramer and later joined Cramer’s family. Officials said his legacy + the care he showed will live on in the community. ABC 12
- ➤ Flint artist and rapper Jeff Skigh teams with local businesses including SMOK cannabis and Ace Hardware for a winter clothes drive accepting coats, hats, gloves, toys, gift cards and donations until Dec. 20. A Whine and Rhyme event on Dec. 12 at Queen's Provisions will support the drive. Mid-Michigan Now
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ City officials announced on Dec. 8 that a damaged railroad track closed the crossing at 12th Street and Van Slyke Road+ repair work is expected to finish early next week while motorists are urged to follow posted detours. MLive
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Explore Flint & Genesee released a new video series that highlights local community members and efforts to beautify the area — including a brand anthem and three character-driven stories designed to support local marketing.
