- ➤ GM’s Flint-area plants awarded $300K in community grants to nine local nonprofits on Dec. 10. The grant program supports local projects in STEAM education and road safety in Genesee County. Flint Beat
- ➤ The Genesee County Sheriff's Office, GHOST groups, and local families packed 270 blessing boxes with food, toys, and household essentials on Friday morning. Today, teams will distribute the boxes across the county with contributions from Kroger and ABC Warehouse. Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ Scott Sassack, owner of Great Harvest Bread Company in Grand Blanc, slept outdoors for his second night on Friday to raise funds for Whaley Children's Center — he also donated part of store sales to support the drive. Mid-Michigan Now
- ➤ On Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, 21 children enjoyed a shopping spree at a Burton Meijer store with first responders during the Shop with a Hero event (organized with Voices for Children and local schools), receiving $100 gift cards and treats to brighten their holiday season. MLive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The payment portal for the Flint water crisis settlement went live Dec. 12 so notified homeowners can sign in and choose how to receive their award money + many are already receiving award notices. This move is part of a $626 million settlement. ABC 12
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Fifty teenagers battling long-term illness will soon receive tech gifts including iPads, Apple Watches, and tablets as an early Christmas gift from the local non-profit Toys for Hospitalized Children — partnering with the Hurley Foundation and Hurley Medical Center in Flint. Mid-Michigan Now
