- ➤ Bailey's Ice Cream and Smokehouse in Metamora Township has reopened as a Christmas pop-up for two December weekends, while east side Cocina Mio will close before the new year after almost a decade of service. A federal judge approved distributing Flint water crisis funds to 26,000 claimants. MLive
- ➤ Cornerstone Baptist Church held its second annual Christmas Toy Drive Giveaway on Saturday in Genesee County, where 5,000 toys helped nearly 1,500 kids and 500 families select free gifts and enjoy hot chocolate plus cookies. Metro police also assisted in creating a friendly, supportive environment. ABC 12
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Santa Claus delighted families on Sunday at Flint Children's Museum during the "Cookies with Santa" event, where kids enjoyed cookies, cocoa, photos, crafts, and free books (supported by a local arts award). ABC 12
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UM-Flint held its commencement ceremony on Sunday at Dort Financial Center, where summer and fall graduates walked the stage to receive recognition for earning their degrees. The event celebrated academic achievement and set the stage for future job opportunities. ABC 12
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ New Paths Inc. is converting the former St. Pius X church and gym on the city's east side into a recovery hub that will host screenings of The Thing on Dec. 19-20 at 7 p.m. and a sober Super Bowl tailgate in February while expanding outpatient services and recovery housing. MLive
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ UM-Flint College of Innovation and Technology hosted the fall state esports finals on Saturday in Flint, where over 120 teams from more than 70 schools competed in games such as Rocket League + Mario Kart 8. Corunna Middle and Davison High secured top honors in their divisions. ABC 12
