COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Active-duty military members and veterans were warmly welcomed home at Flint Bishop International Airport on Dec. 23 — community supporters including Patriot Guard Riders and Blue Star Mothers gathered in Operation Handshake to honor their service before the holidays.  Mid-Michigan Now
  • AAA will activate its Tow to Go program from 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 through 6 a.m. Jan. 2 to offer free tows for intoxicated drivers across Michigan and 10 other states. The service is available without advance appointments + it helps drivers get home safely.  ABC 12

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Blackstone’s Smokehouse is expanding into Corunna after owner Jerrid Heidel purchased Rivals Taphouse at 2500 E M-21. The restaurant will be rebranded as Blackstone’s Public House in phases through early 2026, keeping current staff on board—new signage is already up with more details coming soon.  MLive

  • Flint Children's Museum will host its Noon Year's Eve party on Dec. 31 to welcome the new year with creative activities & family fun for kids.  ABC 12

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Delta College launched a website today outlining the national search for its sixth president; the college will accept applications and nominations until Monday, Feb. 9 while Andrea Ursuy serves as interim president from Jan. 1 until the new leader takes office.  MLive
  • The Flint & Genesee Education & Talent organization has launched the Home for the Holidays Challenge to engage local youth in a community contest designed to inspire creativity and learning. Additional details on participation will be shared soon.  ABC 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A new MTA bus route now connects Flint to a Meijer store in Davison Township — a decision based on a study and public feedback showing local demand by workers and residents without cars. Officials say the test run will ease access along Lapeer Road for those in need.  MLive

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hamilton Community Health Network offers behavioral health services to Flint seniors battling holiday loneliness. David Rachar, 64, received food, furniture and emotional support from his provider and church, while network specialists urge seniors to seek care and stay connected as cold, gray weather looms.  Flint Beat
