EDUCATION NEWS

  • On May 12, Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson honored the 100th and 101st IGNITE program graduates—Tyler Storey and Leonard Montgomery—at a jail graduation that marked a key step to help break the cycle of incarceration by offering education and job training.  MLive
  • Flint is offering a variety of summer programs for youth that include storytime at Applewood, nature camps, sports sessions and arts workshops. Several programs begin soon and run through summer—families are encouraged to sign up early—because slots fill up quickly.  Flint Beat

SPORTS NEWS

  • Flint native Michael Fletcher, a 2019 Carman-Ainsworth graduate, signed with the New York Jets on Friday and will try for a 53-man roster spot after recording 4 sacks last season at Appalachian State. He will wear No. 77 and work with coaches Steve Wilks and Aaron Glenn as he begins his professional career.  MLive
